A meteor explosion was heard just after 2 p.m. Saturday, May 30 and has created buzz. 12 News Meteorologist Catie McNeil shares more on the explosion.
The USGS noted the event was a "widely felt sonic boom from a suspected bolide," referring to a meteor that explodes in the atmosphere.
Residents reported a sharp boom and shaking homes after a meteor fragmented high over New England, NASA said.
The meteor streaked across the region around 2 p.m., according to NASA, hurtling into Earth’s atmosphere at a speed of roughly 75,000 miles per hour.
